It all began with an idea in college. How can we show our fellow classmates there is more to the Durham, NC food scene than just eating in the campus Café. We wanted to bring a fresh look to the standard foodie style of marketing by sharing videos and photos which expressed a story of our full restaurant experience. Our focuses was making Mom + Pop local restaurants trendy and more marketable to the collegiate and young adult target audience. In the Spring of 2016 we did just that by creating the social media platform “The Real Food Tour”.

The Challenge

The Resurgence of The Real Food Tour

Fast forward a year, it’s now 2017. The Real Food Tour is a local name and a respected food blogger for the city of Durham, NC. However, now it’s time for us to graduate. As the team disbursed and went their separate ways to follow their own dreams and careers, the idea of The Real Food Tour slowly dwindled almost to a point of non existence. The Owner, Barrington Transou was offered a job with the largest hospitality company in the world in the field of Finance and relocated to Rhode Island, Boston, and eventually Dallas, TX in the year of 2018. It’s now 2020 and the hospitality industry came to a screeching holt due to the infamous Coronavirus. Barrington was furloughed for nearly 8 months but in a time which seemed unfortunate he found blessings. He used this time to re-envision his true passion, The Real Food Tour.

Barrington and his team are highly sought after for their visual storytelling, which focuses on capturing the beauty, artistry, and appeal of food. The Real Food Tour's niche of moody lighting, combined with nearly ten years of experience in the food marketing industry, has positioned the company as one of Dallas's most requested culinary media companies in the city and surrounding areas.
